ANAEROBIC METABOLISM
If you try to maintain a high-intensity (i.e. anaerobic) activity, the fuel for this will run out after approximately 1.5 minutes, and the athlete will become quickly fatigued. A period of 3 to 5 minutes to allow time for muscles to become replenished with energy (glycogen and phosphocreatine).
