SJVSC Vaulting Camps

Directed by Olympic bronze medallist and former world record holder Jan Johnson. His SJVSC camp system is

legendary for offering the finest, most up to date teaching system possible in a high energy, fun atmosphere. He has coached 6 vaulters over 19 feet and over a hundred over 18. He is recognized as America's foremost pole vault authority.

Costs

Commuters- varies, according to the length of the camp; see application portion. Cost includes instruction, insurance, t-shirt, booklet, etc. Does not include room and board, or evening supervision.

Residents -varies, according to the length of the camp. See application portion for costs specific to each session. Includes all of the above, plus room and board, hotel to facilities transportation, and evening supervision.

Refunds subject to $25 processing fee. No refunds if dismissed for disciplinary or injury reasons.

Deadline - Deposit due two weeks prior to session. All camps, first-come, first-served basis only.

Program

Includes three sessions daily, small groups, several pits, large staff on premises during the entire camp. Variety of activities including vaulting, gymnastics, rope vaulting, imitative exercises, vaulting drills, videotaping, movies, body composition, biomechanical analysis, strength and speed testing, age group competitions and other optional recreational activities such as surfing and skating 1/2 and 1/4 pipe.

Eligibility

All vaulters ages 12 and up.

Housing and Meals

Resident campers will be housed at the Colony Inn Best Western, Atascadero, CA. Transportation to and from the hotel and 24 hour supervision is provided by the camp staff.

Check In

Both residents and commuters should check in between 11 am and 1 pm at Sky Jumpers Vertical Sports Club in Atascadero. A map and directions will be provided in your confirmation packet.

Departure

All sessions end between noon and two pm on the last day of camp.

Location

Atascadero is located in San Luis Obispo County, on the beautiful central coast of California. It is located 240 miles south of San Francisco, 200 miles north of Los Angles on U.S. Hwy 101. It is easily accessible by Amtrak, bus, plane, or car. Please notify us if you need ground transportation upon arrival or departure. Coaches Education Program

In addition to offering the finest instruction to athletes, SJVSC has educated thousands of coaches over the past 20 years. Coaches who attend as a participant or observer will receive an official Sky Jumpers Certificate of Completion. Coaches may also qualify for our Coaches Tuition Waiver by contacting us a minimum of 30 days in advance of camp. Waivers are limited to first come, first serve basis. Coaches must be at least 21 years old with a college or high school coaching job. Call Jan Johnson for more information.

Registration

A check for $100 down payment should accompany your registration form. The balance is due upon check-in. Participation in the camp is available on a first come, first serve basis. Upon receipt of your application and deposit, you will be mailed a confirmation packet with updated instructions and information regarding the camp.

What To Bring

Each vaulter should bring his\her own poles, tape and extra spending money. Arrangements can be made to borrow SJVSC poles, but we strongly recommend you bring your own, so we can see you on your equipment.

Sky Jumpers Philosophy

We take great pride in offering a wide variety of challenging vault related activities in what can only be described as the worlds greatest backyard. We stress step by step skill development with a safety first motto. Come prepared to make huge gains in your vaulting. Camaraderie, self respect and good clean fun are all important aspects of our system. Drugs and alcohol are not tolerated.

Parental Consent / Participation Waiver

I hereby grant permission for my child to attend the Sky Jumpers Vertical Sports Vaulting Camp. I verify that my child has had a physical exam in the past year and is capable of participating in the activities related to the clinic. I agree to indemnify, hold harmless and defend Jan Johnson, Sky Jumpers, and/or their agents or employees from any and all liability for injury to my child. as well as any injury or damage caused by my child. Should medical treatment for my child be necessary, I hereby authorize any physician or trainer selected by camp personnel to order and conduct medical or surgical procedures necessary. In addition, I hereby grant permission for Sky Jumpers to use any photography or videotape of related camp activities for advertising or educational video materials.
