Sky Jumpers Vaulting Camp

Directed by Olympic bronze medallist and former world record holder Jan Johnson. His SJVSC camps system is

Legendary for offering the finest, most up to date teaching system possible in a high energy, fun atmosphere. He has coached 6 vaulters over 19 feet and over a hundred over 18. He is recognized as America's foremost pole vault authority.

Costs

Commuters - $305 Includes instruction, insurance, T-shirt, booklet, etc. Does not include room or breakfast, does include lunch and dinner.

Residents - $365 Includes all of the above plus room and board. Refunds subject to $50 processing fee. No refunds after June 7, 2002. Substitutes acceptable. No refunds if dismissed for disciplinary or injury reasons.

Program

Three sessions daily, small groups, several pits, large staff on premises the entire camp. Variety of activities including vaulting, gymnastics, imitative exercises, vaulting drills, videotaping, movies, body composition, biomechanical analysis, strength and speed testing, age group competitions and other recreational activities.

Housing and Meals

Housing and meals for campers will be in one of the University residence hall facilities. Each dorm room accommodates 2 people. If you have a preference for a roommate, please specify on your application. Excellent 10 to 1 camper to adult ratio will be maintained in the dorms to insure proper supervision at all times.

Registration

A check for the $100 down payment should accompany your registration form. The balance of your camp fee will be due at check-in. Participation in the camp is available on first-come, first-serve basis. Please apply early. Insurance and heath information required by the state of Wisconsin will be mailed to you as part of your confirmation packet. These materials will be required in our offices seven days prior to the start of the camp.

What To Bring

Each vaulter should bring his\her own helmet, poles, shoes, shorts, sweats, towels, toiletries, pillow, sheets, blanket, alarm clock, tape and extra spending money. Arrangements can be made to borrow poles but it is best if you bring your own.

Coaches Education Program

Coaches who participate in a Sky Jumpers Vaulting Camp either as a participant or registered observer will receive an official Sky Jumpers Vaulting Coach Certification and Diploma. Coaches may also qualify for our special tuition waiver ($200) by contacting us 30 days prior to our camp. Tuition waivers are limited to first come first serve basis only. Coaches must be at least 21 years of age with a high school or college coaching job.

Check In

Both residents and commuters should check in between 11 am and 1 pm, Sunday June 16, 2002 at the UWSP Indoor Track and Field facility.

Departure

The camp ends Wednesday June 19, 2002 at 2pm. Please arrange your transportation accordingly.

Location and Transportation

The University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point is easily accessible by bus, plane or auto. It is located in Central Wisconsin on US HWY 51, 100 miles north of Madison and 160 miles east of Minneapolis, MN. Sky Jumpers Philosophy

We take great pride in offering a wide variety of challenging vault related activities in what can only be described as the world's greatest backyard. We stress step by step skill development with a safety first motto. Come prepared to make huge gains in your vaulting. Camaraderie, self respect and good clean fun are all important aspects of our system. Drugs and alcohol are not tolerated.

I hereby grant permission for my child to attend the Sky Jumpers/University of Wisconsin Stevens Point Vaulting Camp. I verify that my child has had a physical exam in the past year and is capable of participating in the activities related to the clinic. I agree to indemnify, hold harmless and defend Jan Johnson, Sky Jumpers, and/or their agents or employees from any and all liability for injury to my child. as well as any injury or damage caused by my child. Should medical treatment for my child be necessary, I hereby authorize any physician or trainer selected by camp personnel to order and conduct medical or surgical procedures necessary. In addition, I hereby grant permission for Sky Jumpers to use any photography or videotape of related camp activities for advertising or educational video materials.
