Jodie Mayes, 9th grader from Woodland Junior High in Fayetteville, Arkansas, went to AAU National Indoor Championships in Indiana on February 23. She won the Intermediate Girls' Pole Vault setting a new Indoor National record at 11'. The old record was 8'6". She was also named AAU MVP Most Outstanding Female Athlete at AAU Nationals. This was done without the help of her coach, who was unable to attend. She also won the AAAAA Arkansas State High School Indoor Championships in Pole Vault March 1.
