: : : Just recently i signed up for the junior olympics
: : : in my state. During the regular season i was using
: : : a 13' 150 rocket pole. It was already broken in
: : : great so it was easy to bend. But, the pole has
: : : become too limber for me and if i keep using it,
: : : it will break. Now i am trying a 13'6" 155 pacer
: : : and it doesn't feel comfortable running and planting
: : : in the box. It feels like my steps are off, but
: : : they aren't. Any advice?

: : Maybe your steps are off, you may be over striding to make yourself more comfortable, and correct yourself. Try holding lower until you feel comfortable.Remember to leave your trail leg back, that will help you load the pole and get you deeper into the pit. also, really make sure you attack the take off, if you back off it will only lead to trouble. Good Luck, i hope this helps

: Hey, thank you for the advice. I had practice today
: and started from my 8th step and it worked out great.
: I had just lost my confidence in my stride. Thank You!
: Do you pole vault also?

Glad I could help. I have simular problems when i change poles too. its almost like i try too hard to run too fast, and i dont need to, i need to trust my steps, and not try to force them to be on. Im just glad to know im not the only one with this problem!
