at NCAA DI and DII Nationals....officals have been great at getting steps for vaulters. At smaller meets with fewer and perhaps less qualified officials it may be different. They may not have the manpower to or understand the great importance in getting "steps"
In Atlanta for the games in 96' an official was assigned in qualifing and finals to make sure accurate take off numbers were available for all athletes in the open vault and multi events as well.
