we used to pratice and run home meets with a single sided( curved ) crossbar. It really made no difference. you had to really spin it hard to roll it off. The shortened peg idea sounds kinda good.

starting at a higher high is not necessairly a good idea. I know a great many schools who rely on those weekend meets for pratice, usually because of ither sports hogging the training area's, or simply lack of equipment. its not such a big problem in outdoor as much as indoor

changing rules so that vaulters stuck at lower highs will also cause them to be in less meets. less meets for most people equal less experience, and thus more head-casses( like me ). On top of that, vaulting is expensive, and if vaulters are not getting points, their coaches or AD will drop vaulting all together. Don't tell me it wound't happen. I've seen it more the once.

I personally think the rules are fine and officials should quit whining like fucking babies. Everyone else has to wait to the end just like them, but no one else is getting paid for it.
