The ALLEN COUNTY ATHLETIC CONFERENCE near FORT WAYNE, INDIANA, have voted not to have the boys pole vault in the upcoming track season. The conference includes the folllowing High Schools > Heritage, Soutern Wells, South Adams, Woodlan, Adams Central, and Leo. I pole vaulted at some of these high schools in the 1970's and this breaks my heart. With STEVE ALLEN,scacti@cs.com, filing suit against the IHSAA to have the GIRL'S POLE VAULT adopted for high school competition, and 100's of girls waiting to "fly", this news comes at a bad time. I strongly encourage pole vaulters, coaches, parents, and former vaulters to write, email, call, or speak to their nearby SUPERINTENDENTS AND SCHOOL BOARDS, to somehow get the ACAC to change their minds and to support the GPV movement in INDIANA. We got the GIRL'S POLE VAULT ADOPTED IN TEXAS by speaking to our superintendents and school boards. I am personally contacting the Superintendent of the EACS, East Allen County Schools, to talk to him about options to get the pole vault back to the ACAC......I will go to Ft Wayne and hold pole vault safety & technical clinics and I will find supporters to help finance upgrades for their pits. FORT WAYNE & ALL POLE VAULT LOVERS MUST SPEAK OUT!!!!!! David Butler
