Moving to a longer pole is not as hard as people think. To begin, you usually want to switch to a pole about 10 lbs lighter, but you may not have that option. Anyway, hold the same handgrip as you did on the shorter pole(measured from the bottom) and jump like you did on the smaller pole. Don't invert or swing on the longer pole. You won't get as deep as you did on the shorter pole, so you'll have to get use to driving more, longer, deeper, however you do it. As you get more confident, and keep getting more depth, you can move up 1 to 2 fingers at a time. If you go slow, you'll be at the end of the longer pole in no time.
: Hey, I'm just a begginner pole vaulter. I'm nowhere near the heights you guys are clearing, but I'm in need of a little advice. I have pretty much maxed out my current pole and I have been trying to move to a taller one, but I'm not sure how to do it successfully. If anybody has any techniques on how to move up to a taller, bigger pole, please let me know. Thanks,
: Will
