Many of you already know who Sage Thames is by now. He is the Top-Ranked HS Vaulter in the Nation. He cleared 17'6 1/2" as a Junior in HS. Many expected him to break Eric Eshback's world HS record of 18'2 1/4" this year. Sadly, Sage has suffered a hamstring injury that may prevent him from competing in the state meet this year. He re-aggrivated his hamstring at the Texas Relays yeaterday and is not expected to be ready by district. Sage will not be able to defend his back to back state championships. The 4-A division is now wide open for the first different state champion in 3 yrs.
