i just use physical abuse to get through to my vaulters.. when they're really bad that is.. but, usually.. i'll just yell a lot..
"STOP DOING THAT!!!"
USUALLY it'll prevent the undesirable behavior..
and when all else fails...
the towel is a good visual cue to prevent being "under", and use it..
but, go back to the beginning and start anew..
do a 2 left approach, get it right on where you're going full bore.. you can only do so much with a 2 left, but, get the most jump out of it.. then do the same at 3 left, always making sure the step is on, and slowly raise grip.. use the towel, get it right from the smaller approach, and continue to go back further and further 'till you're at a full approach, now, the kicker is........
don't expect it to be fixed your first day.. you have to completely retrain your brain.. so, get off your butt and look at it differently.. great vault technique doesn't happen overnight.. it's gonna take a couple years before your runway and take-off are good.. and that's IF, and a BIG IF you concentrate soley on the runway and take-off.. so many lil' things.. and that's why i usually resort to violence to get the ball rolling with my athletes..
=) hope it helps,
